About Us

The Sliding SL Ranch is a horse boarding, training, lessons and breeding facility located in Spring Valley, WI.
The Ranch is managed by Cathy Saumer, Becky Lee and Siobhan O'Connell.

Becky Lee
Breeding Manager

Becky has been riding and showing horses for 22 years.
Becky has competed in games, english pleasure, western pleasure, hunter/jumper and 3 day eventing.
She is a multiple 4H State Champion and Reserve Champion in the Flag Race and Combination Poles and Barrels.
Becky has her Associates Degree in Agribusiness and Science Technology from the Western WI Technical College of La Crosse.
She is in the process of finishing her bachelors degree at UWRF, and completed the Colts in Training Class in 2007.
She also competed on the UWRF Rodeo Team in Barrels.
Becky is an NBHA and UBHA money winner.

Cathy Saumer
Barn Manager

Cathy has been riding horses for 25 years, training horses for 16 years and giving riding lessons for 10 years.
She has ridden under dressage, hunter jumper, pleasure, hunter under saddle, reining, cow horse, and cutting horse trainers,
including an NRCHA judge and trainer of AQHA world class cow horses.
She is a 2002 Graduate of UWRF (Animal Science/Business Emphasis).
She was the UM Twin Cities Intercollegiate Horse Show Association coach for 2 years.
She has instructed 4H and WSCA all around winners.
She has taught students of all ages, from 5 year olds to seniors.
Cathy has trained trail horses, kid horses, show horses for western pleasure, showmanship, horsemanship, english pleasure, and equitation.
Cathy is a multiple PtHA National and Reserve National Champion.
She is also a 3 time MNFQHR Versatility Award Winner.

Siobhan O'Connell
Trainer

Siobhan has been riding horses for 10 years, showing for 7 years, training horses for 5 years, and been giving riding lessons for 5 years.
Siobhan has experience training and showing a wide variety of horse breeds, from quarter horses and paints to arabians, gaited horses, and welsh ponies,
in a wide variety of events ranging from Halter/Showmanship, Western Pleasure/Horsemanship, English Pleasure/Equitation, Trail, and Reining/Working Cowhorse.
Siobhan has ridden under western pleasure, hunter under saddle, reining, cowhorse and roping horse trainers, including a PHBA Reserve World Champion.
Siobhan's show achievements include: PHBA 2005 Honor Roll, 3rd in the Nation Youth Reining, Multiple PHBA ROMs, State 4H Reserve Champion, Multiple State 4H Top 10s, and WiFQHA point earner in Ranch Riding, Ranch Reining and Ranch Cutting.
